William Buck Fitout
Winner - 2024 MBA Excellence in a Commercial Fit-Out up to $5M Award
The fit-out was executed over four floors in two stages. Stage 1 involved the rapid fit-out of two half-floors (Levels 5 & 8) within seven weeks. Stage 2 involved the fit-out of two 1,200 sqm floors (Levels 6 & 7) delivered within 21 weeks. This phased approach was essential for maintaining William Buck's operational continuity during construction. The project enhanced William Buck's workspace by delivering 212 new workstations, a striking reception/waiting area that transitions effortlessly into the new boardroom, and a range of meeting/quiet rooms to foster collaboration. Additionally, the innovative breakout space doubles as a vibrant lunch area while also serving as an exceptional venue for functions..
The project boasts a clean and simplistic aesthetic, but closer inspection reveals the remarkable level of intricate detail and complexity that distinguishes it. A standout aspect of the construction process was the meticulous installation of three distinct types of Italian stone, imported specifically for this project. Integrating this into the reception/waiting area, boardroom, and breakout spaces required precise coordination between several subcontractors and is a key feature of the building's design. American Oak timber is used extensively throughout the space and stands out as a prominent feature. The construction process involved the installation of an innovative ceiling tile/concealed ceiling grid system—a challenging and rare feature. This complex installation posed significant challenges for the ceiling installation team, along with other services interlinking with the ceiling.
